“Beauty is an attitude. There is no secret. All brides are beautiful on their wedding day because they care how they look. There are no Ugly women- only women who don’t care or believe they’re attractive”- Estee Lauder
“Nature gives you the face you have at 20, it is up to you to merit the face you have at 50” – Coco Chanel
“Elegance is the only beauty that never fades.”- Audrey Hepburn
Timeless words from women who gave definition to beauty and modern fashion. Their style and charisma still inspires women across the globe. They didn’t win Miss World or Miss Universe title, yet created a benchmark for beauty. Their attitude and confidence did not come from accolades but an inner belief in themselves.
Whenever I read about such iconic females, who armed just with their courage of conviction made a mark in the world, I want to imitate them, time travel and be them. I fantasize what I would have done in their situation. Futile endeavours, for they were living examples of originality.
It’s a bit difficult for us today to be original ourselves when the tabloids and internet exist for the sole reason telling us tenets of perfect beauty. I mean it’s not enough to have a pleasant face and flawless skin. Eyes, nose, lips, hair, hands and even nails have their own benchmarks of beauty. It can be bit mind boggling.
At trying times like these I remember an old saying “you cant control the contours of your face , but can control its expressions!”. Keep this thought in mind and do some soul searching. You will realize your innermost strength, a quality that sets you apart from everyone else. Polish that quality and refine it. Seek perfection in it. And very soon you will realize that you are perfect!
All it takes is little courage, little self knowledge and lots of belief in one’s self.
